Prysmian offers the complete portfolio of installation equipment needed to install Sirocco. The key
installation products have been designed by Prysmian, in association with equipment manufacturers.
These complement the advantages offered by Sirocco to achieve simple and rapid long length
installation. The equipment is available from Prysmian and our partner companies for purchase. It
can also be temporarily rented or leased to facilitate an initial entry to the market. It will also
be possible to hire equipment with the appropriate trained resource to operate it (an installer
must attend a Sirocco installation
training
course prior to using this equipment).
The main items of equipment are:
• Sirocco Blowing Head
The Blowing Head has been designed and developed specifically for the
installation of Sirocco units. It can accommodate the full range of fibre units (2, 4, 8, and 12)
available from Prysmian. The unit is suitable for use in both external or internal environments,
and can be used with a wide range of Sirocco tube sizes. The fibre unit is installed into a tube
using compressed air, with the assistance of drive wheels. The typical installation speed achieved
with the blowing head is 30 m / min. A range of compatible equipment is also available from
Prysmian. An installer must attend a Sirocco installation training course prior to using this
equipment.
• Sirocco Compressors
The Compressors are designed to deliver clean dry air for the installation of
the Sirocco range of blown fibre units in conjunction with the Sirocco Blowing Head. There are a
range of portable standard compressors,
• Petrol driven rotary vane unit producing 120 l / min of pulse free treated air at a
working pressure of 10 bar (Pdf file, 170Kb)
• Quiet running, electrically driven rotary vane unit producing 100 l / min of pulse
free treated air at a working pressure of 10 bar (Pdf file, 258Kb)
It is necessary for an installer to attend a Sirocco installation training
course prior to using this equipment.
• STILT
The patented Sirocco Tube Integrity & Length Tester (STILT) will assist
installers to ensure that the tube link is free from any air leaks and that they have an adequate
length of blown fibre unit to complete the installation. The STILT can also be used as confirmation
of a successful tube installation and ratification of length of tube installed.
• Other Installation Equipment
The installation process for Sirocco units requires the use of additional
equipment items in conjunction with the blowing head and compressor. This range of equipment
includes the Regulator, Coiler, Pan Guide, Pan Support Frame, Pan Inversion Ring, and Blowing
Beads. The full range of equipment is available from Prysmian. It is necessary for an installer to
